New for 2027: rule changes already approved
In July 2026 the City Council approved changes for Mardi Gras 2027 [4]:
- New start times: Druids moves to 5 p.m. (from 6:15), Tucks moves to 1 p.m., and on Friday d'Etat now rolls before Hermes and Morpheus.
- Parking bans near parade formation areas start four hours before a parade instead of two.
- Fines for grills, tents, furniture and portable toilets on the route rise from $250 to $1,000, then $2,000; ladder, tent, grill and portable-toilet violations become criminal offenses.
- Boot fees rose from $121 to $172 starting July 27, 2026.
